Mike Paduada

Mike's involvement with swing dance has been intense from the start. Within a year of his first lesson, Mike had been a guest instructor for the University of Waterloo Swing and Social Dance Club and had participated in several public performances.

In 2000, after relocating to Richmond, Virginia, Mike began working with the performing dance troupe, Swing Syndicate. Initially, he performed and gave instruction in Swing Syndicate's distinctive style that emulated the Lindy Hop '40's and '50's films. Over the next two years, however, Mike helped the company expand beyond conventional performance. Swing Syndicate brought vintage entertainment concepts, such as hair and make-up workshops and swing-themed event management, to New York, Atlanta, and festivals and resorts across the eastern seaboard.

In 2002, Mike returned to Canada to pursue academic interests at the University of Waterloo. His passion for swing dance, however, is as strong as ever.

Since his return, Mike has taught swing dance workshops and has participated in a number of private performances. He also performed recently with the Toronto-based Route 66 Dancers for Ed Mirvish's birthday.
